Q: How do you catch sturgeon?
A:
In the area(s) that I fish for sturgeon they have lived there for
centuries. The best way to insure your chances are to use top of the
line tackle - have good electronics on board and use the proper bait.
Sturgeon rely on their ability to "smell" the bait that is presented
to them. I use cured roe - eel - pile worms - ghost shrimp. (or
whatever else may be working at the time)
You have to be sure that your bait is presented on the bottom as
sturgeon feed there. The tides are also important - It is important to
know when the tide will cycle for a bite to occur.
It is also important to track the area(s) where fish are being caught.
Q: I have been fishing for sturgeon for years,
and have never caught one. What am I doing wrong?
A:
Sturgeon are not an easy fish to figure
out. There are many opinions about the proper way to fish for them.
I have spent 20 years fishing
for them and have been learning new tidbits of information to help
insure that I can catch more fish.
